Different Types of Sports Bets
As you prepare to make a bet, you might be wondering the best kind of bet for the sporting event. If this is the case, you need not worry. There are plenty of bets you can make without spending a lot of time on the event you are to bet on. You might not have control over the result of a sporting event but you definitely have control over the kind of bet you should place. The kind of bet you place will have a great impact on the return you get after a sports event is over.
The bet types will vary depending on the online bookmaker you use or the kind of sport you are betting on. There are plenty of bet types but we will only go over the most common allowed in UK betting sites.
Head to Head
This is the most common kind of betting. Most betting sites in the UK offer this kind of betting to their bettors. You either place a 2-way or 3-way bet. For a two way bet, you can have a win or loss bet while for the three-way bet it’s a draw, win or loss. The sportsbooks will provide odds for the different outcomes available. Depending on the amount you stake, the odds will be multiplied against the stake to determine the possible outcome.
Totals (Over/Under) Handicaps
Are you having trouble determining which team will win? The totals handicap is your kind of bet. In this bet, you predict the number of scores to be made with regard to the average line that is pre-determined by the betting site. If you think that a team will end up scoring 3 goals and the other 4 goals an average line is determined by getting the total of the scores (3+4=7) and divided by two (7/2=3.5) the average line for our case is 3.5. If you think the team will score three goals or less, your bet should be Under 3.5 but if you think they will score more than 3 goals, your bet should be Over 3.5.
Each Way Bet
This type of bet allows you to place a stake on the horse, athlete or team that will be in the first position and the one that will be in the second, third, fifth or sixth position. Even when the win bet loses, you will still cash in on the place bet if the party you placed a bet on finishes in the position you predicted. The Each Way Bet will be your kind of bet if you wish to make bets on multiple events.
In this kind of bet, you make a prediction on one outcome. When the prediction is correct, your bet will be a success, if not, you do not get anything.
If you are on a small betting budget, multiple bets would be a good take for you. This is where you have multiple predictions accumulated in one bet. This bet is also referred to as the accumulator bet. A multiples bet has the chance to earn you huge profits while you only invest a very small stake. There are punters who spend as little as 25p in multiple bets which is very a very small amount to risk. With a multiple bet, you will hardly mess up with your budget.
This is another kind of accumulator bet. As the name suggests, you make predictions on two different events. If your prediction is right, you will win the bet but if it one of them fails, you will not get any payouts.
This is also an accumulator bet; unlike the double bet, in a treble, you make predictions on 3 events. You only get returns if all predictions win; when one of the predictions loses, the entire bet loses.
